Starting October 28, Indian expats in the UAE will only receive e-passports when applying for a new passport<\/strong>. This update was confirmed by the Consulate General of India in Dubai. The new e-passports come with an embedded RFID chip that stores biometric and personal data, enhancing security and efficiency for travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The process to apply for an e-passport is now quicker. Through the upgraded Passport Seva Programme (GPSP 2.0), applicants can fill in their details online<\/strong> in just two minutes. Once you enter your old passport number and verify your information, the application can be submitted easily. This system helps reduce waiting times, especially at BLS Centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New passports will require an ICAO-compliant biometric photo. If your photo does not meet the standards, your application will be delayed. You can find detailed instructions on the photo requirements here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, there are no plans to collect fingerprints or physical biometrics for passport applications outside of India. The processing time and fees for obtaining a passport will remain the same<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
