It&#8217;s one of the city\u2019s most important highways, linking major hubs such as the DIFC, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, residential areas, offices, and top leisure destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s what changed in this part of Sheikh Zayed Road after the works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>RTA <strong>widened a 700-metre stretch<\/strong> near Umm Al Sheif Street<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engineers added a <strong>seventh lane<\/strong>, boosting the road\u2019s capacity by 16%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The upgrade allows to accommodate <strong>up to 14,000 vehicles per hour<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/platinumlist.ceo\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SaveClip.App_542001357_18532351252037912_6140431870642531056_n-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/platinumlist.ceo\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SaveClip.App_542001357_18532351252037912_6140431870642531056_n-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/platinumlist.ceo\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SaveClip.App_542001357_18532351252037912_6140431870642531056_n-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/platinumlist.ceo\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SaveClip.App_542001357_18532351252037912_6140431870642531056_n-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/platinumlist.ceo\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SaveClip.App_542001357_18532351252037912_6140431870642531056_n-150x75.jpg 150w, https:\/\/platinumlist.ceo\/guide\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SaveClip.App_542001357_18532351252037912_6140431870642531056_n.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The additional lane is expected to <strong>reduce traffic density, enhance safety, and cut travel times<\/strong>, particularly for vehicles arriving from Abu Dhabi through the Umm Al Sheif exit, a known congestion point during peak hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project is just one of several initiatives currently underway to improve the city\u2019s road network. <strong>RTA is currently carrying out<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/platinumlist.ceo\/guide\/rta-to-upgrade-roads-in-6-residential-areas-in-dubai-full-details-and-completion-dates\">works in six residential areas<\/a><\/strong> to further improve traffic flow and road safety.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dubai\u2019s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a key upgrade on Sheikh Zayed Road, enhancing traffic flow near Umm Al Sheif Street exit.
