The shift is part of a gradual security update led by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).<\/p>\n<p>OTPs are short security codes sent to your phone or inbox. They&#8217;re used to approve online payments, including things like shopping or QR-code transactions when dining out. Instead of entering a code from a message, <strong>customers will now use their bank\u2019s mobile app to approve transactions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><strong>What is changing for UAE banks\u2019 clients starting July 25:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fewer texts and emails<\/strong>. No more waiting for OTP codes to land in your inbox or messages<\/li>\n<li><strong>App updates required<\/strong>. Banks are urging customers to update their banking apps to support this new feature<\/li>\n<li><strong>New process<\/strong>. You\u2019ll now select \u201cAuthentication via App\u201d within your bank\u2019s app to confirm a payment<\/li>\n<li><strong>Phone access is essential<\/strong>. Customers should get used to choosing in-app authentication as the default option.<\/p>\n<p>As this update rolls out, <strong>banks will continue to support customers with reminders and app improvements<\/strong>.
