Dubai is making it easier for electric vehicle (EV) owners to charge their cars by installing new charging stations at on-street parking spots across the city<\/strong>. This initiative, launched by Parkin<\/a> \u2014 Dubai\u2019s biggest public parking operator \u2014 in partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA<\/a>), aims to improve accessibility to EV charging, especially in busy residential areas where home charging isn\u2019t always an option.<\/p>\n

The new on-street EV charging stations will be set up in zones A and C<\/strong>, which are designated for street parking. Each station will offer two charging points, operating on 22-kilowatt alternating current (AC), allowing drivers to charge their vehicles efficiently while parked.<\/p>\n

These locations were selected to serve high-density neighborhoods where EV owners may struggle to find charging options. The goal is to make EV ownership more practical and encourage more drivers to switch to electric.<\/p>\n

The first batch of these charging stations will be available by the end of the first quarter of this year<\/strong>. Looking ahead, DEWA has ambitious plans to install 1,000 charging stations across Dubai by the end of 2025, significantly expanding the city\u2019s EV infrastructure.<\/p>\n

EV owners will be able to find, use, and pay for charging directly through the Parkin app<\/a><\/strong>, which integrates both parking fees and EV charging costs into a single digital wallet. This makes the process seamless \u2014 simply park, plug in, and manage everything from your phone. With these developments, Dubai is taking another step toward a greener future, making EV ownership more convenient and accessible across the city.<\/p>\n
