Originally designed as a car-free city when it launched in 2022, Expo City is undergoing a major transformation. The revamped 3.5-square-kilometer site aims to become home to over 35,000 residents and a thriving professional hub for 40,000 workers.<\/p>\n

Under the new masterplan, some vehicles \u2014 specifically private cars, delivery services, and emergency vehicles \u2014 will have limited access to designated areas<\/strong>. City leaders announced a significant overhaul in September, introducing a range of new projects and enhancements:<\/p>\n

  • The establishment of DP World\u2019s global headquarters<\/strong>.<\/li>\n

    Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer for Expo City Dubai, explained that vehicle access is a necessary adaptation for creating a fully integrated, \u201c15-minute city.\u201d<\/strong> Residents and workers will be able to meet all their daily needs \u2014 healthcare, retail, and leisure \u2014 within a short walk.<\/p>\n

    Despite the inclusion of vehicles, the focus remains on eco-friendly mobility. Soft, low-emission transportation like e-scooters and Careem bikes will continue to play a vital role.
